Favourite Bible verses

Below are some of my favourite verses from the Sacred Scripture, in no particular order. This list will hopefully keep growing as I know more about the Lord. Which ones are your favourites?

May the God of peace make you perfect in holiness. May he preserve you whole and entire, spirit, soul, and body, irreproachable at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
—1 Thessalonians 5:23

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.
—Colossians 3:23

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
—Psalms 139:13-16

Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.
—Luke 5:4

Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her.
—Hosea 2:14

Fear not, I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
—Isaiah 43:1-2

O God, come to my assistance; O Lord, make haste to help me.
—Psalm 69:2

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
—Matthew 11:28-31

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
—2 Corinthians 12:9

We who are strong in faith should be patient with the scruples of those whose faith is weak; we must not be selfish. Each should please his neighbour so as to do him good by building up his spirit. Thus, in accord with Scripture, Christ did not please himself: 'The reproaches they uttered against you fell on me.'
—Romans 15:1-3

God did not make death, and He does not delight in the death of the living.
—Wisdom 1:13

Choose life ... by loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice, and holding fast to him.
—Deuteronomy 30:19-20

Stern as death is love, relentless as the nether world is devotion.
—Song of Songs 8:6

For from the greatness and beauty of created things comes a corresponding perception of their Creator.

I will be for her an encircling wall of fire.
—Zechariah 2:9

You must put on the armor of God if you are to resist on the evil day; do all that your duty requires, and hold your ground. Stand fast, with the truth as the belt around your waist, justice as your breastplate, and zeal to propagate the gospel of peace as your footgear. In all circumstances, hold faith up before you as your shield, it will help you extinguish the fiery darts of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, the word of God.
—Ephesians 6:13-17

Rejoice always, never cease praying, render constant thanks; such is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. —1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Because you are God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with: heartfelt mercy, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another, forgive whatever grievances you have against one another. Forgive as the Lord has forgiven you. Over all these virtues put on love, which binds the rest together and makes them perfect.
—Colossians 3:12-14

God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.
—Genesis 1:31

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
—Psalms 19:1-2

A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will take out of your flesh the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
—Ezekiel 36:26

Who is she that cometh forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in array?
—Song of Songs 6:10

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given to you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you.

In the midst of the Church the Lord opened his mouth: and filled him with the spirit of wisdom and understanding: He clothed him with a robe of glory.
